Patreon Fee Calculator

This Patreon fee calculator estimates your monthly take-home after the platform fee, payment processing and payout fees come out of your members’ pledges. It is for creators planning tier prices, comparing plans or wondering how far a growing membership actually goes once every fee is counted.

Fee rates change; check Patreon’s current fee page. If you leave the platform fee blank, the calculator uses the rate of the selected plan; blank processing and payout fields use 2.9% + $0.30 per payment and $0.25 a month, commonly published US rates. Blank Tier 2 fields count as 0. Small pledges, other currencies, VAT and app-store purchases can carry different fees, and income tax is not included.

How the Patreon Fee Calculator Works

Patreon’s cut comes in layers. A platform fee is taken as a percentage of what members pay, a payment processing fee is charged on every individual pledge as a percentage plus a fixed amount, and a small fee can apply when you withdraw your balance. The Patreon fee calculator adds up pledges from two tiers, applies each layer and shows what is left. If you leave the platform fee blank, it uses the rate of the plan you pick, 10% for the standard plan, which you can override; blank processing fields use 2.9% plus $0.30 per payment, and a blank payout fee uses $0.25 a month.

Formula: Gross = (Tier 1 price × Tier 1 members) + (Tier 2 price × Tier 2 members). Platform fee = Gross × Platform rate ÷ 100. Processing = sum over both tiers of Members × (Tier price × Processing rate ÷ 100 + Fixed fee per payment). Take-home = Gross − Platform fee − Processing − Payout fee. Effective fee rate = Total fees ÷ Gross × 100.

  • Tier 1 and Tier 2 price — the monthly price of each membership tier. Tier 2 is optional; leave it blank or set its members to 0 to ignore it.
  • Tier 1 and Tier 2 members — paying members on each tier.
  • Plan — presets for the standard rate on newer accounts and the legacy Lite, Pro and Premium plans.
  • Platform fee — Patreon’s percentage. If you leave it blank, the calculator uses the rate of the selected plan; a typed rate overrides it.
  • Processing and Processing per payment — the percentage and fixed charge applied to each pledge. If you leave them blank, it uses 2.9% and $0.30.
  • Payout fee per month — the cost of moving your balance to a bank or PayPal, assuming one payout a month. A blank field uses $0.25.

How Much Does Patreon Take? Tips for Pricing Tiers

Ask how much does Patreon take and the honest answer is: more on cheap tiers. The fixed processing charge is the same whether a member pays $4 or $25, so it eats about 7.5% of a $4 pledge but barely over 1% of a $25 one. Compare the first two example rows: the same $800 gross leaves $24 less when it comes from many small pledges.

  • Check your plan. Your platform rate depends on when you joined and which plan you chose, so confirm it in your creator settings before trusting any Patreon payout calculator.
  • Patreon processing fees for very small pledges and for payments in other currencies can follow a different schedule. Enter the rates shown for your account.
  • Consider annual memberships or slightly higher entry tiers to soften fixed fees.
  • Budget for declines. Some pledges fail each month, so your real income usually lands below the gross figure.
  • Set aside tax. A Patreon earnings calculator shows money before income tax and, in many places, before self-employment contributions; rules vary by country and year, and this is not personal advice.

Fee rates change; check Patreon’s current fee page before you price new tiers. For the company’s history and business model, see Wikipedia’s article on Patreon. Run the Patreon fee calculator again whenever your plan or member mix changes.

Patreon Fee Calculator FAQ

How much does Patreon take from creators?Patreon takes a platform fee plus payment processing on each pledge, and a small payout fee may apply. If you leave the fee fields blank, this tool uses 10% for the standard plan, with processing at 2.9% plus $0.30. On $800 of pledges from 120 members, that leaves about $660, or roughly 83% of the gross.
What are Patreon processing fees?Processing covers card and PayPal costs for every payment. If you leave the processing fields blank, this tool uses 2.9% plus $0.30 per pledge, a commonly published US rate. Smaller pledges and other currencies may use different rates, so check your account. Because part of the fee is fixed, low-priced tiers lose a larger share to processing.
Does the Patreon fee calculator work in Pakistan or India?Yes. The maths is the same everywhere, but enter the rates that apply to your account, including any currency conversion or payout charges for your bank or PayPal. Treat the dollar sign as a label if you prefer another currency, and remember local income tax is separate from anything this tool shows.
How do I use it as a Patreon earnings calculator?Enter each tier’s price and member count, choose your plan, and read the monthly and yearly take-home. Try different member counts to see what growth would add. For forecasting, use realistic numbers: membership churns, some payments decline, and a launch spike often settles down within a few months.
Did Patreon fees change in 2024 or later?Patreon has adjusted its pricing over the years, including a standard rate for newer creators that differs from the older Lite, Pro and Premium plans. That is why every rate in the Patreon fee calculator is editable. Confirm your current platform and processing rates in your creator settings before relying on the result.
Is there a fee to withdraw money from Patreon?Usually a small one. Payout costs depend on the method, such as direct deposit or PayPal, and on your country and currency. If you leave that field blank, the calculator uses $0.25 per month, which assumes one bank payout a month. Type the payout fee your account lists, or enter zero to ignore it.
