How to calculate overtime pay
Overtime pay = OT hours × (Hourly rate × Multiplier)
Overtime is usually paid at 1.5× your normal rate (“time and a half”), and sometimes 2× (“double time”). At $20 an hour, your overtime rate at time-and-a-half is $30. Work 40 regular hours plus 6 overtime hours and your total is $800 + $180 = $980.

When does overtime apply?
In the US, non-exempt employees are generally entitled to overtime at 1.5× their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek under federal law, and some states have daily overtime rules too. Double time is less common and usually set by employer policy or a union contract. Rules vary by country, so check your local labor laws.
