How the Currency Converter Calculator Works
Converting money between currencies is a single multiplication once you know the exchange rate — the hard part is finding a rate you trust. The currency converter calculator applies whatever rate you enter to your amount, instantly and privately.
Formula: Converted Amount = Amount × Exchange Rate, where the exchange rate you enter means 1 unit of the "From" currency equals that many units of the "To" currency. The calculator also shows the Inverse Rate, calculated as 1 ÷ Exchange Rate, which tells you how many units of the "From" currency 1 unit of the "To" currency is worth. Because exchange rates move constantly, the calculator uses the rate you supply rather than fetching one automatically.
- Amount — the quantity of the "From" currency you want to convert
- From (code) — the currency code you're converting from, such as USD
- To (code) — the currency code you're converting to, such as EUR
- Exchange rate — how many units of the "To" currency 1 unit of the "From" currency is worth, which you enter yourself

Currency Converter Calculator FAQ
Where do I find today's exchange rate to enter?
Check your bank, card issuer or a currency rates website for the current rate between your two currencies. Rates differ slightly between providers, so use the rate closest to where you'll actually be transacting for the most useful estimate. Why doesn't this converter fetch live rates automatically?
It's built as a manual-rate calculator by design — you enter today's rate yourself, so the result stays private and works even if you're offline or the currency pair is one that isn't widely tracked automatically. What is the "inverse rate" shown in the results?
The inverse rate shows how many units of the "From" currency 1 unit of the "To" currency is worth — essentially the exchange rate flipped. It's useful when you want to convert in the opposite direction without retyping the rate.Does this calculator account for bank or transfer fees?
No, it only applies the exchange rate you enter to the amount. Banks, card networks and money transfer services typically add their own fees or markup on top of the market rate, so your actual amount received may be lower. Can I use this for any currency pair, not just major ones?
Yes, enter any two currency codes and the rate between them. Since you supply the rate manually, the calculator works the same way whether you're converting major currencies or less commonly traded ones. Why might my actual conversion differ from what my bank charges?
Banks and card issuers often apply a rate that includes a markup above the market exchange rate, plus flat or percentage fees. This calculator shows a clean conversion at the rate you enter, so compare it against what your provider actually quotes before transacting.Related Calculators
