How the Dice Roller Works
This tool simulates rolling one or more physical dice using your device’s random number generator, so you get a fair, unpredictable result every time without needing actual dice on hand. You choose the die type (or a custom number of sides), how many dice to roll, and an optional modifier that gets added to the total — just like writing a roll as “3d6+2” in a tabletop game.
Formula: Total = (sum of N random whole numbers, each independently drawn from 1 to S) + Modifier. For every one of the N dice, the calculator generates a uniformly random integer between 1 and the chosen number of Sides, displays each individual die result, adds them all together, then adds (or subtracts) the Modifier to produce the final Total.
