How to convert annual salary to hourly pay
To convert a yearly salary into an hourly rate, divide it by the number of hours you work in a year:
Hourly rate = Annual salary ÷ (Hours per week × Weeks per year)
For a standard full-time schedule that’s 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours a year. So a $60,000 salary divided by 2,080 equals about $28.85 per hour. To go the other way, multiply your hourly rate by 2,080 to estimate your annual salary.

Gross pay vs net (take-home) pay
This salary calculator shows gross pay — your earnings before income tax, social security and other deductions. Your net pay (take-home) will be lower, and the exact amount depends on your country, tax bracket and benefits.
Use these gross figures to compare offers on equal terms. For an after-tax estimate, you’ll need a paycheck or take-home pay calculator built for your specific location.

Salary Calculator FAQ
How do I convert my annual salary to an hourly rate?
Divide your annual salary by the number of hours you work in a year. For a standard full-time schedule that's 40 hours × 52 weeks = 2,080 hours. For example, $60,000 ÷ 2,080 = about $28.85 per hour.
How do I convert an hourly wage to an annual salary?
Multiply your hourly rate by the hours you work per week, then by the weeks you work per year. At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, multiply your hourly rate by 2,080. So $25 an hour equals roughly $52,000 a year.
Does this salary calculator show take-home (net) pay?
No. This calculator shows gross pay — your earnings before income tax and deductions. Your net (take-home) pay will be lower and depends on your country, tax bracket and benefits, so you'd need a location-specific paycheck calculator for an after-tax figure.
How many work hours are in a year?
A standard full-time year is about 2,080 hours, based on 40 hours a week for 52 weeks. If you take unpaid time off, your actual hours — and your effective hourly rate — will differ.
What is the difference between gross and net salary?
Gross salary is your total pay before any deductions. Net salary, or take-home pay, is what's left after income tax, social security and other deductions are subtracted.
How is monthly salary calculated from an annual salary?
Divide your annual salary by 12. A $60,000 salary works out to $5,000 of gross pay per month, regardless of how many days are in each month.
Is the salary calculator free to use?
Yes, this salary calculator is completely free, needs no sign-up, and gives instant results directly in your browser.
